Simbang gabi is not just about attending 9 masses and then wish after. It is about preparing for the birthday of Jesus Christ. And what makes each day special is the challenges you encounter just to go to church and hear the messages of the Lord. Each day has its unique way of teaching you lessons of letting you understand things.
Those gifts and decorations are merely external. Welcoming Jesus Christ in our lives is something else.
Not just receiving but giving and sharing. It is loving your neighbor, loving others the way He does to us.

They say when you complete the 9 days of simbang gabi, you have a priviledge to make a wish. But it is A working process. It’s the realizaion of the old saying’do your best and God will do the rest’
The first day of the mass, thursday, was very unforgettable, it was when the trains of Singapore going to the church went down. I was then typing a very long message on fb to clacla. Honestly, i dont care if the train was taking so long coz i alotted a lot of time for my travel. But when it was announced that it will take an hour before the next train, i panicked a bit, a bit because i was with two oficemates. And that’s the good part i was with them so we decided to take the cab. It was a long drive from office to the church, and was a blessing to arrive at the church just in time.
Friday. It was when there was a party at the office but i need to leave earlier to attend mass, bad thing i was a bit dizzy due to the drink we had, but on a brighter side i reached the church just in time.
And then saturday, i had a very long travel from my house to the church and even took a cab because the bus will take long, an then after the mass i ended up, sleeping at my friends’house because i missed the bus and the next one will take too long and it was past midnight.
Sunday, i was so glad i came at the church early despite the rain.
Monday, i left the office early although i know the next church was near. But to my surprise my long allowance was eaten up by my long travel because i rode the express bus which brought me to clementi good thing there were 3 filipinos too going to the same church so i had new friends cath, shelly and rex and we 4 rode the cab.
Tuesday, i had my earliest arrival, and it felt so good to be of service as one of the wardens and even served arrozcaldo after. Felt so good actually coz it was my first time wearing that sash.
Wednesday, reached the place, again, just in time. Good thing the church was near the bus stop.
Thursday, again thank God the church is located near me and had been there before so im on time.
Friday, 9th day. i was so afraid i might not reach the church in time because i had this little one minute shopping, my fault, and then the next bus will take half an hour and i only have 10 minutes. But good thing a cab just stopped by near me so i reached the church in time again.
From all my experiences, truly God has shown me His surprises.
You wanna know what i wished for from the start of the novena? I said to God my wish is to finish simbang gabi to be able to share that ‘priviledge.’ the priviledge of sharing a wish. That other’s own wish be granted. A heart’s desire that is good and pleasant to God. There are wishes that wasnt answered because it is not His right time or maybe He is leading you to a better one. You can wish all you want but only Him can say yes. So have faith and welcome Him into our lives as we welcome Jesus Christ. Let Him lead. A wish is a hope and trusting in Him give us the hope. And when you do that for sure your wish will be granted.
I have been so blessed by God this year and there is nothing I can do but to share. For I learned from this wonderful year since I had ALNP and my AG that He will give you what you need just in time. So never worry and let Him drive your life. And for this christmas time, i might not give everyone a gift but i know to share a hope might help.
